Joy and Cici Unfiltered – Healthy Choices, Importance of “Recharging,” Tough Conversations Between Friends & A Surprise Announcement

Joy and Cici Unfiltered

Joy and Cici UnfilteredJoy and Cici Unfiltered is a bi-monthly collaboration between Cici B. {@TheCrimsonKiss} and Joy Pecoraro {@WOWWcampaign}. #JoyandCiciUnfiltered is a podcast collaboration aimed at discussing various topics centered around relationships, friendships, entrepreneurship, personal development and other experiences that have resulted in life lessons. These conversations between Joy Pecoraro and Cici B. are meant to be entertaining, inspiring and encouraging.

In today’s podcast episode of Joy and Cici Unfiltered, you’ll hear about how they’ve each been impacted by their recent health choices and the importance of consistency whenever a change is desired. They also discuss how they each “recharge” and the tools/habits they implement to regain energy or push through a difficult circumstance that may result in a decrease of emotional, mental and physical energy. Joy Pecoraro talks about how consuming local-grown foods has improved her overall well-being as well as incorporating daily habits that provide a sense of inspiration in order to keep a positive mindset. Cici B. discusses the impact that sleep has on her life and how essential it is that she physically rest whenever she starts to notice that her energy levels are low. In this episode, you’ll also hear Cici B. talk about the changes she’s noticed since deciding to focus on recent healthier food choices.

During their conversation, they also address a question from a listener about how to deal with a friendship that no longer adds value to your life. Tough conversations between friends is inevitable, but often necessary. However, it’s sometimes impossible to have successful tough conversations with friends due to different personality traits. Do you “ghost” them or tell them that the friendship needs to end? Cici B. and Joy each share a personal experience that resembles each outcome and why they chose to go that route. In conclusion, they emphasize that every relationship is different and because dynamics and circumstances vary, it’s important to assess everything accordingly since there isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution.

Joy and Cici discuss many different topics during their conversation, but during today’s podcast episode, you’ll also hear a surprise announcement for all listeners about something exciting they have planned in 2018. All links referenced in today’s episode are below and please feel free to share #JoyandCiciUnfiltered with others. **A friendly reminder: Mature audience only since this episode contains profanity and adult content.**

Joy and Cici Unfiltered – Dating Apps, Supportive Friends & The Importance of Communicating When You’re Dating

Joy and Cici Unfiltered

Joy and Cici UnfilteredIn this episode of Joy and Cici Unfiltered, Cici B. {AKA @TheCrimsonKiss} and I discuss the frien

dships, dating apps, dating dynamics, relationship experiences and more. We discuss the importance of being selective with your friends and the difference between how we choose who we surround ourself with now vs. before. Not everyone is happy for you when success knocks at your door, regardless of the circumstances the other person is under, which is one of the things we discuss in today’s podcast episode. Cheering for others’ accomplishments is an important characteristic in a friend, especially when you desire to grow and continue to evolve in different areas of your life.

I also explain to Cici B. the dynamics and fundamental premise of dating apps such as Bumble and Tinder. Our different approaches to dating make this conversation interesting because of our mentality and person experiences in the world of dating. Cici B. enjoys a more traditional approach and has never dated a complete stranger, while I thoroughly enjoy “small talk” and love getting to know people that our outside of any of my circles. I discuss my preferences regarding “dating profiles” and my current and previous positive experiences with  the online dating world.

Also in the dating realm, we answer listener questions related to “how to know if a guy is into you when you first start dating?” We emphasize the importance of verbal conversations and encouraging a dialogue to get the answer you seek versus assuming that a scenario is something it’s not. Cici B. and I also talk about the fact that since different people show their affection in different ways, it’s essential that we pay attention to our present situation versus comparing or contrasting against a standard that may or may not actually exist or be relevant in our life.

Overall, this episode is filled with personal testimonials about the topics we discuss, which always incorporates our multi-dimensional perspectives. As always, all things discussed in today’s episode can be found using the links below. Enjoy another episode of Joy and Cici Unfiltered!

Joy and Cici Unfiltered – Entrepreneurship, Healing After A Breakup & Dating “Red Flags”

Joy and Cici Unfiltered

Joy and Cici UnfilteredIn this episode of Joy and Cici Unfiltered, we discuss our experiences as entrepreneurs and the various stages of healing after our breakups.

In honor of Global Entrepreneurship Week, we talk a lot about both the positive and negative aspects of entrepreneurship and what we’ve learned along the way. Setting an intention with your business has been something that we realized is fundamental because it has the ability to fuel you, especially as challenging circumstances arise.

We discuss the importance of bridging passion and self-discipline because as entrepreneurs, we’re the ones responsible for accountability since we’re free to make our own schedules and execute on tasks. Cici B. and I share different moments in our journey as examples to show the various sides of entrepreneurship. Becoming an entrepreneur is not a “get rich quick” scheme and requires a plethora of consistency and patience. As Cici mentions in this episode: “consistency will beat talent any day.” Sporadically delivering projects and content doesn’t build trust between an entrepreneur and their audience and/or customer, which is why it’s important to be diligent about their expectations.

In this episode of Joy and Cici Unfiltered, you’ll also hear us answer questions submitted by our audience regarding relationships. In particular, we talk about how we each healed after our breakups. I share how I used anger in my favor because I found that it motivated me to do different things. Cici shares how important it was for her to heal through self-awareness and not relying on anything external during her recovery process. Although the meaning of “closure” varies for different people, we give our perspective on this topic and how we each face this aspect of our relationship in different ways.

Another question that was submitted to Joy and Cici Unfiltered was about “red flags” and what to look out for when you first start dating someone. Cici B. discusses an experience she had with someone that revealed their true nature, which led to her ending the relationship and realizing that certain characteristics make her feel controlled. I talk about my desire for men to show that they’re self-aware and unafraid to have vulnerable conversations that show they’re comfortable self-reflecting. As usual, we find sarcasm and humor in our stories while introducing different perspectives to scenarios. We hope this episode not only inspires you, but entertains you as well!

Joy and Cici Unfiltered – Entrepreneurship, Make Up For Ever Controversy & Sexual Shame

Joy and Cici Unfiltered

Sexual ShameJoy and Cici Unfiltered is a collaboration between Joy Pecoraro and Cici B. {AKA The Crimson Kiss} with episodes being published twice per month on the WOWW Campaign podcast. We usually discuss various current events and have conversations related to personal and romantic relationships. Our goal is to shed light on controversial topics and give our individual perspective in an effort to inspire and unite women around the world. Warning: all episodes are rated ‘Explicit’ and for a mature audience only.

In this episode of Joy and Cici Unfiltered, you’ll mainly hear us talk about the following three topics:

1. Entrepreneurship
2. Make Up For Ever Controversy
3. Sexual Shame

Entrepreneurship is on the rise and often times, sensationalized and seen as “glamorous” by many spectators. Cici and I share some recent challenges that we encountered in our business because as entrepreneurs, these unforeseen circumstances end up taking over our daily schedule. Without a technical support team, it’s difficult to resolve issues in a timely manner, which leads to frustration and delays. Our experience and perspective as entrepreneurs is meant to show a glimpse of the reality that this journey entails.

A few weeks ago, Make Up For Ever was at the epicenter of a controversy due to an Instagram post on their account that was aimed at attacking Rihanna’s new makeup line, Fenty Beauty. Cici B. and I discuss how this act goes beyond the thousands of comments seen across social media. We talk about why we think a corporation of this stature is having a negative impact on younger generations when they decide to engage in unprofessional tactics. This situation also brought other things to the surface such as the importance of inclusion. Cici B. gives her opinion as a woman of color and details why it’s important that her children one day feel part of society, instead of being alienated. As someone who is not a person of color, I had a difficult time imagining what it would be like to feel like companies don’t take me into consideration because of the color of my skin. This situation caused feelings of anger among many women from all different walks of life, which is discussed extensively in this episode of Joy and Cici Unfiltered.

Lastly, Cici and I have an interesting conversation about sex and sexual shame. Until this episode, I have stayed away from discussing anything sex-related on the podcast because fear and embarrassment prevailed. We talk about why it’s important that women embrace sex as a pleasurable act instead of something we are ashamed about. Because of my cultural background and childhood environment, I share why I haven’t talked about these things openly until now. The amount of sexual shame I’ve felt has been a direct result of the messages I’ve absorbed for the past 32 years. As a woman in the latin culture, openly stating that you enjoy sex would be seen as promiscuous by many, causing women to remain silent when it comes to these topics. The inability to have an open dialogue with your partner about your sexual preferences can lead to feelings of isolation and frustration, causing sex to be seen as something negative.

These conversations are intended to be relatable and encourage more communication free of judgment and bias. By acknowledging and recognizing that sexual shame exists around the world, we hope more women will feel comfortable embracing this innate aspect of ourselves that’s meant to be enjoyed and celebrated.

Joy and Cici Unfiltered – Race, Bullying, Unhealthy Friendships, First-Date Pet Peeves

Joy and Cici Unfiltered

Joy and Cici UnfilteredIn this episode of Joy and Cici Unfiltered, Cici B. and I talk about race, bullying, unhealthy friendships, first-date pet peeves, and more. A few weeks ago, there was a controversial situation between two Youtube personalities: Jaclyn Hill and Kathleen Lights. Jaclyn Hill posted a video of Kathleen Lights on her Snapchat where she was filmed saying the N word while playing a video game. In today’s episode, you’ll hear us talk about this controversy and how we feel about people using that term, which gives a multidimensional perspective from our various backgrounds and nationalities. Cici B. and I go into detail about the impact these conversations have on the future of our society and our mentality, as well as the cyber bullying that social media influencers receive in situations such as these. Unfortunately, online bullying doesn’t only happen when you’re part of a controversy because as Cici discusses, she receives derogatory racial comments on a regular basis simply for having a large platform that seems to appeal to mass audiences, including bullies.

In this episode of Joy and Cici Unfiltered, you’ll also hear us briefly discuss how we feel about  “friends” that are not supportive of their loved ones accomplishments and the fact that jealousy from others can be a hurtful experience.

Lastly, we discuss some of our pet peeves on first dates such as “whether or not the man should pay for the first date” and men that always play the victim whenever they’re referring to previous relationships. We talk about our experiences in these situations and how our mindset shifts under such circumstances.

Joy & Cici Unfiltered – “The Pressure” to Settle Down, Women Empowering Women & Girl Talk

Joy and Cici Unfiltered

Joy and Cici Unfiltered

Welcome back if you listened to the first episode of #JoyandCiciUnfiltered last week! If this is your first time listening, we’re happy you’re here. However, I highly recommend listening to the first episode {link here} we recorded so you get to know us a little more, our overall tone and perspective. This week, Cici and I sit down to talk about the pressure women feel to settle down and the consistent messages we’re receiving from society telling us to have children and spouses, regardless of the circumstances. This means that often times, people are more focused on your “biological clock” than the foundation on which your children will be introduced. Doesn’t it make more sense to create a healthy and loving environment so that when you’re ready, your children and relationships are more likely to prevail {and win} instead of suffering and falling apart? This conversation includes a plethora of vulnerable opinions from both Cici and I that are aimed to encourage healthy and sustainable ways of promoting individuality. Life should be on your terms as long as you’re not hurting yourself or those around you. However, we must stay awake and aware of the times we choose to stand and applaud those that stand beside us. As a Latina, it’s common to encounter this pressure in my culture, which is something I’ve never been in favor of. In fact, rejecting society’s expectations has created distance between my family and I because my goals and aspirations differ from theirs. Standing alone for something you believe in doesn’t have to be lonely; it can be empowering, too.

Cici goes into detail about women’s circumstances she’s been exposed to and how she feels that she can learn from observing, rather than participating. Even though it’s 2017, women all over the world are being encouraged to settle down with an urgency to be “rescued.” In this episode, you’ll hear Cici and I promoting another superhero: ourselves. Women have the power to not only achieve goals, but surpass them as well. We’re witnessing an era where women are breaking down barriers and are able to lift others as they climb. Therefore, why not applaud the women that want a brighter future for themselves and the potential family they may/or may not want to conceive one day?

In this episode of #JoyandCiciUnfiltered, you’ll also hear us share testimonials about what’s it’s like as an ambitious entrepreneur to be in a situation where you feel that people around you aren’t interested in celebrating your triumphs and victories. It comes as no surprise why Oprah and Gayle are inseparable. Despite Oprah’s resume and long list of achievements, Gayle continues to be her cheerleader and team captain…even after all of these years. Unfortunately, relationships like these are hard to come by and as you move forward in life, you begin to realize that those that take the initiative to celebrate you aren’t the ones you may have initially envisioned being beside you.

This episode is not all “serious” talk – we hope you’ll laugh alongside us as well. As in the first episode we recorded, there are plenty of opportunities for you to laugh at us, or with us. Whatever the case, we hope you enjoy this collaboration between The Crimson Kiss {Cici B.} & WOWW Campaign {Joy}. We’d love to hear from you, so please leave your comments, questions & suggestions below!

Joy & Cici Unfiltered – Introduction

Joy and Cici Unfiltered

Joy and Cici Unfiltered
Welcome to the first episode of the Joy & Cici Unfiltered podcast series! Cici B. {AKA The Crimson Kiss} and I are collaborating to bring you these episodes twice per month on The WOWW Campaign Podcast platform. My first interaction with Cici was in May of 2017 when I had the opportunity to interview her on my platform. If you haven’t had an opportunity to listen to her interview, you can do that here. After an almost 3-hour conversation that day, I knew that she was a woman I’d want to keep in-touch with and hopefully establish a relationship with as well because honestly, who doesn’t appreciate a woman that is honest and direct with someone they’ve never even met in-person before?

Three months later, we’re together again. One week after suggesting a collaboration and discussing some of the logistics, Cici and I were able to sit down and record the first episode of #JoyandCiciUnfiltered. Every month, you’ll hear us discuss different suggested topics from our audience, as well as things that are relevant in our present-day life. Today’s episode is full of laughs, *explicit* conversations, personal stories, testimonials, and a plethora of opinions. Please note the word ‘explicit’ – #JoyandCiciUnfiltered is not a series you want to listen to while you’re in the car with your children and/or if you’re sensitive to profanity. If you personally know either one of us, you can be sure that we’re never left quite speechless or depleted of a perspective, which is one of the many reasons why recording today’s episode was so fun. Enjoy and let us know your thoughts about what we discussed!

Topic highlights in today’s episode:

  • Importance of self-awareness when navigating the end of any relationship
  • Lessons about ourselves as a result of an ex
  • Friendship breakups
  • Girl code
  • Overcoming heartbreak
  • Knowing yourself better than anyone {including the good, bad, ugly & embarrassing}

If there’s a topic and/or question you’d like us to discuss on the podcast, feel free to reach out to any of us via social media @TheCrimsonKiss @WOWWcampaign. Or, tweet us using the hashtag #JoyandCiciUnfiltered.
